Four years ago I was succefully admitted into Shanghai Fisheries University, majoring in my favorite—Biotechnology.After 4 years’ study and research, in order to keep updating with the world trend, to dig into the deeper insights into my future career, to explore the prospect of my research life, I am supposed to pursue still more advanced studies, and thereby, acquire more systematic training in analytical skills and a more concrete theoretical foundation in the filed of biology.All these factors, therefore, directly inspire me that a good education at abroad will spell the beginning of a new era for me.In comparison with the western countries, in China’s universities the biological research equipments are limited, and the theories and research methods are outdated.The students in China’s universities can only learn wide theory, but have few chances to undertake an experiment independently.Relatively UK’s higher education is in the leading place in the world, I can absorb advanced knowledge and technique if I could study there.I knew the information about UMIST from Internet.UMIST is a great university, its great reputation for research and teaching, the flexible and variable course arrangement attracted me, and I thought it is a college fit for me.Consulted with my parents, I decided to apply for study to this university.At present, I have been offered a place in Msc in Biotechnology in UMIST.And my study plan in England is as follows:

I will study the Msc course in Biotechnology in UMIST, which will begin in September 2004.The course is of 12 months duration and involves studying taught modules, followed by undertaking research and completing a diertation.On semester 1, I will learn Science of Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering ⅠⅡ, Metabolic Engineering, Applications of Biotechnology and on the second semester, I will Cell and Tiue Engineering, Cereal Biotechnology, Molecular Design of

Bioproducts and Experimental Biotechnology.My parents will fund all the tuition fees and living costs during my stay in UK.They support me to study abroad when I was a child, so they began to save money early for my study abroad.They have steady employment.My father’s annual income is about RMB130, 000 after tax.My mother’s annual income is around RMB21, 504 and she can earn RMB31, 020 after her retirement per year.And I will be guaranteed to get RMB350, 000 from their deposits.This is adequate and I will be able to concentrate on my study without worrying about financial aspects.After I get Bachelor Degree, I prepare to come back to China for development.Chinese biotechnology industry has just started, the development of Chinese biotechnology industry has great potentiality, and the speedily developed economy of China creates innumerable challenges and opportunities.I have international education background: I believe that it will give me a competitive advantage.China welcomes the returning of overseas students.We have a series of attractive preferential policies for returned overseas students, and it’s favourable to my development in the future.The most important thing is that my family are all in China, I love them, and I have duty to come back to repay them and take care of them according to Chinese tradition.I cherish this education opportunity;I will study hard and obey the laws and regulations of UK.
