Excitedly and curiously, I got on the train which
destination is Ningbo from which my intern would start. After several hours traveling, on 15 July, 2011, my
clamates and I arrived at Ningbo XX Hotel, the practice base of our school.Firstly, the customer service manager guided us to look around their hotel.I was even a lot more excited for the brilliant designs and terrific service of this hotel as well as for the opportunity to work there during the next six months. Then, the manager showed us the major job of different departments. On the morning of next day, a training which lasted for the next week was beginning.During this week, I was asked to do different work at
different occupations.I really enjoyed my job in Food and Beverage Department. In this department, I could not only learn the knowledge of different drinks such as Whisky, Brandy and Cappuccino, but also promote my communication skills.Because of my paion, I was sent to the Food and Beverage Department after training. The first month of my internship was the hardest part for me.Even though I had studied hotel management in the past two years, I’ve never worked in a hotel before. For
example, since our hotel prepared food from all over the world, every employee in our department was asked to remember the name, materials and price of each dish. However, I was unfamiliar with most of foreign dishes.Everyday I got up early and recited the menus. My
persistence and hard-working helped me to be the first intern who was able to remember the whole menus of our hotel.Apart from learning the knowledge of different drinks, I was required to understand the manners of west countries and rectify drinks. It was the allege of our department, “to go where is needed”, that urged me to try really hard to overcome every obstacle I have encountered. After entering September, the busy season of our hotel was
coming. There were several wedding or birthday ceremonies in our hotel everyday. My colleagues and I are responsible for transporting and arranging tableware, recording and tidying up tables.I felt very tired but still happy for the experience I gained from that period.During the six months’ internship, I met kinds of
customers, earned different evaluation and made lots of friends.I learnt how to deal with different people, how to balance the interests of individual and the whole company as well as how to adapt myself to kinds of
situation and working environments. Most significantly, I have learnt the strong service consciousne was required by a qualified servicer. It was the first step for me to swift my role as a student to a social person.I have understood difficulties as well as prospects of the hotel industry. Therefore, this
experience would help me set a clearer career goal in the future. Also, thanks to this intern, I would be much more self-reliant, mature and confident when hunting for a job after graduating.
