Feb 22th,2016 In order to improve our ability to translate, check what we have learned the theory and techniques of translation and strengthen the combination of theory and practice ability and school provides opportunities for us 2 weeks of translation practice.Through this translation practice, I think we can improve the ability of applying the knowledge of translation.At the same time, the problems encountered in the translation proce will improve our ability to solve problems.Translation is a comprehensive discipline, to achieve the ideal translation results, have acce to large amounts of data, read a lot of information, as far as poible to expand their knowledge.I am looking forward to this practice, because I think I will learn a lot of different aspects of knowledge, improve their ability to consciously query information.I have already prepared for this translation!
Feb 23th,2016 Our translation practice timely provides me an acce to train my translation skills and shows me the procedure of translation.And in my opinion, this is also the aim of this practice, to give us an opportunity to deeply understand what does translation mean and how to be good at it.I believe I can benefit much from this practice.Translation is not an easy work.Translation is the communication of the meaning of a source-language text by means of an equivalent target-language text.Translators always risk inappropriate spill-over of source-language idiom and usage into the target-language translation.Feb 24th,2016 According to the teacher's speech last week, I learned that the actual translation projects are generally specified in a limited period of time, by a translation workshop(Working Group)to complete.After the completion of the division of translation needed by a responsible for the Polish people, so you can reach style consistency and terminology will more colorful.In accordance with the teacher's advice, the students in our cla have been divided into groups.Our team also has been ready to simulate a real translation workshop, go all out, for the succeful completion of the internship.Feb 25th,2016
How to balance the source-language and the target-language is the eential problem.Translators are like sculptors.They transform each of work into beautiful sculptures , which need good skills and great patience.Last year, I had a course of English-Chinese Translation, in which I had a lot of interests and also met some obstacles to make me aware of my shortages.Honestly speaking, after nearly ten years English learning, I have no courage to say that I am good at English, and what shames me most is the course of English-Chinese Translation, where I found my poor in Chinese.I still have a long way to go.Feb 26th,2016
Today,I ensure my translating material ,a paper about my thesis.About this thesis,I learned a lot and I get more information and writing skills about my design.So I will pay much attention on this translating.I prepare all kinds of translating tools to help translate my project.Such as dictionaries,reference and so on.Tomorrow,I will start,and I think I will do my best.Feb 27th,2016 I started my translation work from this week.Sometimes, it is easy to understand the general ideas of the source-language texts.However, big obstacles wait at the end.For instance, there are some idiomatic usages and technical terms in the text, and it is really a hard work to make sure if these translation are proper or can these be easily understood by the readers.As the main idea of my translation is about German, I checked some books about its education, economy and and other backgrounds.But our school library have limited resource.Therefore, most of them comes come from the Internet.Feb 28th,2016
During my translating,I find lots of translating problems.And I write them down.The translation of some proper nouns is not consistent.Such as:new words, all kinds of proper nouns and so on, should be discued to the full set of staff to ensure that the time to reach a consensus.In fact, it is also a reminder that we should increase the amount of reading every day, read more newspapers and a variety of original work, as much as poible to increase our vocabulary, and the correct translation of proper nouns.Feb 29th,2016
Today my partner ask me what is “mistranslation”,and I give it my explaining and some examples.In reading a lot of translation skill book, I know what is called “mistranslation”, mistranslation is very wide, names, numbers, dates, spelling are often easy to be wrong.I think this can be avoided, as long as we usually pay more efforts, but also to be more serious and responsible.Such as:Protestant和Protestantism。We have determined the use of the word by referring to the Oxford higher order dictionary。1“她是天主教徒还是新教徒？”Is she a Catholic or a Protestant? 2“他就早期新教徒的异端邪说作了演讲。”He gave a speech on the heresies of the early Protestants.3“一名新教徒向人群发表了演说。”A Protestant delivered a speech to the crowd.But about the Protestantism：1Catholicism and Protestantism were introduced into Shanxi in 1620 1876 respectively.2 Pruian Protestantism could not get rid of the control of the nation in the proce of the development of modernization.3a member of a society founded in Ireland in 1795 to uphold Protestantism and the British sovereign.And the ensure the 2 words using:“信奉”:He is adherent to Islam.2He profeed Islam.他表白信仰伊斯兰教。A believer or follower of Islam伊斯兰教的信徒或追随者。Mar 1th,2016 I have finished the work of translating Chinese into English.These two languages have different forms of expreing.In English much information is carried by the use of auxiliaries and by verb inflections: is/are/were, eat/eats/ate/eaten, etc.Chinese, on the other hand, is an uninflected language and conveys meaning through word order, adverbials or shared understanding of the context.The concept of time in Chinese is not handled through the use of different tenses and verb forms, as it is in English.Chinese does not have articles, so difficulties with their correct use in English are very common.And shamefully, this is one of my biggest obstacles.Mar 2th,2016 I finally finish my work which lasts for such a long time.And the proce of translating emerges in my mind now.I understand that translation is a serious work.Sometimes, I added my own imagination into understanding of the source-language text, and persuaded myself the rightne at the same time.In the editing proce, these mistakes were pulled out.It is very lucky for me to realize where the problems come from, from which can lead my translation skills to a higher level.I will continue to be strict with myself and keep an open mind on the way of learning.And I thank you very much to my tutor-Mi.Chen.Thanks for her patient and her care and love.
