Totem During the summer vacation,I read a book called Wolf Totem which reflects the relationship between wolves and people under one of my friends’recommendation.It took me about half a month to finish the book and after I have finished it,I benefited a lot.Chen zhen,the protagonist in the book,is the embodiment of the author who volunteered to the border of Inner Mongolia graland Lun as a Beijing youth 30 years ago.On the graland,he once drilled the wolf’s hole,dug over pups,raised coyotes,fought with wolves and lingered with wolves as well.Themed by wolves and written at the period of the environment,the book described dozens of ‘wolf stories’ which showed us the wisdom,team spirits,strong hearts of the wolves.Truly speaking,what attracted me most in the book was the author’s description of thinking about the relationship between wolves and greedy people.To the people on the graland,wolves are their soul.Old man Bilgee has a great influence on me,who has lots of prestige on the gra and he is the first teacher of Chen zhen Bilgee always hold the opinion that they should keep a balance among wolves,graland and people.But it is a pity that another important person named Shungui Bao turned up in the end.He uses the power in his hand to hunt wolves seriously and cruelly.In my eyes,he is just a rude,shortsighted man who will come to a bad end.However,unfortunately,the book didn’t make it clear.Finally,old man Bilgee died with sorrow and the howl of wolves rippled in the sky the whole night.The imaginative picture is really sad and moving.The coyote raised by Chen zhen died,too.Due to various reasons,Chen zhen killed the wolf with his own hands.The wolf hurt badly and he couldn’t howl like other wolves.Chen zhen always feel very self-abuse but in order to respect the coyote,he had no choice but to kill him.If not,he will be killed by other people on the gra like Shungui Bao.Chen loves the coyote,but in that situation,especially after old man Bilgee died,he did not have the ability to protect the coyote.Love him,but have to kill him,it is really a sorrow itself.Of course,wolves disappeared from the graland gradually.Shungui Bao,along with other rude people,drove trucks,held guns and run after wolves.What they did was to blame and deserved a punishment.They broke the ecological balance and caused the sand storm in Beijing nowadays.Meanwhile,his behavior is something to reflect on.Protecting the environment and keeping the balance between nature and mankind should be appreciated by all of us.The stories in the book give us lots of enlightment and expose mankind’s greed to the sun.If we always demand of the nature and break the balance of ecology,we humans will die out in the coming future sooner or later.
