--Review of Te of the D’urbervilles It is true that God is almighty.He creates the world mixing with happine and sorrows.Meanwhile, God is so cruel that make big jokes toward people who seem to be insignificant sometimes, leading to the miserable fate of some people.After finishing the reading, the idea suddenly comes to my mind.Te of the D’urbervilles is written by Thomas Hardy, a famous English poet and novelist.All his novels are on the background of the country life in the England and can be divided by three different types.Te of the D’urbervilles and Jude the Obscure are two of the most well-known of Hardy’s works, labeling full-length novels.Through these works reflecting the miserable life of poor people, Hardy aims to criticize the morality under industrial civilization.The book I want to talk about is the exact example.Te was born in a poor family located in a small, picturesque village.Affected by the simplicity of the folk customs, Te is also simple and pure.She is a little girl –natural, kind, innocent, dignified and intelligent--all good qualities rolled up into one.In conclusion, Te was the sign and embodiment of beauty and love.The first time I know Te’s kindne is when she agreed to go to the noble d’Urberville family.Under her mother’s supplication, she promised to seek the help for the sake of the whole family.Because she knew, by doing so, that her father would be healthy, mother would not have to work all of the time, little sisters and brothers would have toys, and all the family would not have to struggle all of the time.But what she never knew is that her terrible life began when she walked into the garden in the first step.We all know that rarely does the right man come at the right time.This time Te met a wrong man.Her perfect man would not enter her life until later.And this delay caused her terrible and miserable result.It is the exact joke that made by God.Alec, a wicked young man born in a noble family, was attracted by Te’s beauty at the first sight of her.He offered Te a job and sent something to her family to create opportunities to get Te.Time and time again, he tempted Te with sweet words.The primary purpose of helping family supported Te to work, but she was always keeping dignity, especially when she found herself cheated.On one night, Alec finally made it.How

family.He would do labor work in nature rather than staying in the dull city, which is greatly different from his vulgar brothers.At the same time, his attitude towards love also shows nobility of Clare’s mind.When meeting the Te, Clare became addicted to her.So he chose to abandon all his priority when he fell in love with Te.What he admired most is the purity and nature poeed by Te, for he did not see them in noble people.Clare’s sincerity moved Te eventually.After a long period of struggling, Te agreed to marry Clare.Until now, everything seemed smooth.However, the news that Te had society.What Te did in the eence was the wish in heart that she was innocent.She wanted to persuade Clare in believing the purity of her.At last, Te and Clare met in the train station.The transient and short happy time in Te’s life left an impreive memory in her mind.What confuses me is the big change of Angle’s attitude.He rejected to forgive his once true lover.In his eyes, the naïve and pure girl has lost.He cannot afford the price he has taken and chose to avoid the reality.It seems that his behavior is contradictory to his believes in mind.As a matter of fact, Angle was still influenced by the traditional ideas.In his deep heart, he admitted his parents’ opinion.That’s to say, he is not a thorough rebellion against social old value with the deep print of capitalistic conception.There is no doubt that God played with Te so much.When her right man appeared, God yet didn’t give her happine.Te’s parents loved her, but it was just an instinctive love;Alec said love to her, but it was a evil love;Angel said love to her as well, but it was a immature and selfish love.He wanted Te to forgive him, but he couldn’t forgive Te.Te didn’t make any mistakes, but at last, she endured all
