A Review on General Patton

In order to know Patton clearly, I read the book named General Patton, which had been made by Stanke Helson(斯坦科·赫尔森)and translated by Chinese translator named Liu WenTao.As the introduction of the book introduces, Patton is a man who were born for a war and regarded the peace as hell.He was a talent leader as a soldier;moreover, he was a brave and cruel fighter on the battlefield.He takes full advantage of the charm of the dirty words to inspire his soldiers’ fight.Thus, he had distinguished himself again and again.Although he was hailed as a bandit of military of the United States, he treated his wife in other absolutely gentle way.In this book, Patton is no longer purely full of heroism.Frankly, his characteristics are completely distinct and truly stereoscopic, such as weak, obstinate and mercile.Honestly, the book is too long to read it.But the meaning idea is almost mastered by scanning some chapters of this book.Mentioning the name of Patton, most people would create an impreion which is a hero experienced the two world wars.However, I want to say that great man’s succees attribute to his previous valuable experience during the period of growth.So we could gain something precious by learning growth story of the giant.Now, I would show my impreion about this book as following:

From my perspective, I don’t agree that the author explains this book which doesn’t advocate a spirit of heroism.In my mind, I consider that, on the one hand, this book extremely admires General Patton.On the other hand, it has the American type of heroism more or le in the original.As a biography, I think it doesn’t have the conventional sense of encouragement.Neverthele, after all, due to the different cultural backgrounds, the thoughts and the intents of author would be distinct.Although I read the translation, I can realize the main intents of the author and approve of it, because Patton is indeed worthy of being worshiped.First，obviously, he is the second generation of soldiers.So there is full of concept of cla in depth of his mind and he thinks highly of himself because of his noble origin and status.However, exactly due to the sense of pride or something inherited, there are senses of miion and honor in his heart and spirit.It’s clear and valuable that what he want to do and how he should do, which is worthwhile to learn for us.Second, except the strong sense of purpose, his succe also attribute to his attitude to face challenges and perseverance.He is born with persistence of soldiers, which make him overcome the alexia(阅读障碍症)and become the star of West Point.Finally, it has to say that his attainments in a war.As the

first man of American tanks, with his accurate military thoughts, he brings the concept of mechanized warfare and the ways of battle which he invented to America.It’s inaccurate to define that Patton is warlike.He devotes himself to military as a soldier wholeheartedly, thirsting for the war to attest his abilities and thoughts.As book wrote, he knows that his capability is so limited that he can have achievements by concentrating on only one thing all the time, which is the overt reason why he becomes soldier.Also, he considers that treasuring tradition, enjoying excitement and thrusting for honor are the reasons why he joins the army, when he answers his wife’s question about that.In addition, I think it important that Patton’s families give him limitle care and support in his life.Although it was rude when he was in battlefield, he gives sincere love to his wife as most as poible.Even he died for a traffic accident, ending up with a tragedy.His life is brilliant and worthy of being extolled.
