A Dog’ Tale
If you keep giving as much as you can, could you accept a depreing reward? If you strive to save someone’s baby’s life on the cost of your own, what is your reaction when he kills your baby for his personal interests? The answers of Aileen, a Presbyterian dog to these two questions may touch every reader of “A Dog’s Tale”.After finishing reading this story, I found myself a little bit sad, a little bit anger and a little bit guilty. There may be obvious comparison in 3 aspects between Aileen and Mr.Gray.Aileen is diligent and curious about things she doesn’t know while Mr.Gray is of a little impulse. There is no doubt that her mother, a collie who can always learn something in the dining-room, drawing-room or Sunday school may exert great influence on her. Thus Aileen, in memory of her mother, makes every effort to learn, even enters the lab following her master. However, when Mr.Gray saw Aileen dragging his baby, he stroke her heavily without seeking the truth.Poor impulsive scientist!
Aileen is loyal, which was symbolized by her devotion and bravery while Mr.Gray is somewhat selfish.“In memory of me, when there are times of dangers to other do not think of yourself, think of your mother and do what she would do.” These words were deeply implanted in
Aileen’s mind.So she chose to save that little baby.On the contrary, for his own experiment, Gray ended puppy’s life.I will never forget his words, “There, I have won—confe it!He is a blind as a bat!”
Aileen is innocence while Gray is sophisticated and cruel. When Gray asked to bury the puppy in the far corner of the garden, Aileen was even happy and grateful;for she thought it would grow and come up a fine and handsome dog. However, Gray is a man who worships Aileen for her great tale today and will kill her puppy for private purpose tomorrow. He is exactly a cursed beast!
Anyway, I worship the shinning spirits presented by Aileen. As human being, we are supposed to be grateful for what we have and develop a harmonious relationship with the nature.
