Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre is a representative work of Charlotte Bronte who is an English critical realist writer of the 19th century. It ranks as one of the greatest and most perennially popular works of English fiction.Nineteenth Century England was characterized by unique moral, political, and social beliefs. In turn, such beliefs shaped how
individuals viewed such things as marriage and cla divisions.Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre can be seen as a snapshot in history, a social commentary which subtly reveals a distaste for traditional Victorian beliefs. The novel follows the life of Jane Eyre from childhood through adolescence and adulthood. It succefully presents the first female character in the history of English literature who takes an independent and positive attitude towards love, life, society and religion and dares to struggle for freedom and equality.Although the poor but plucky heroine is outwardly of plain appearance, she poees an indomitable spirit, a sharp wit and great courage. She is forced to battle against the exigencies of a cruel guardian, a harsh employer and a rigid social order. All of which circumscribe her life and position when she becomes governe to the daughter of the mysterious, sardonic and attractive Mr Rochester. However, there is great kindne and warmth in this epic love story, which is set against the magnificent backdrop of the Yorkshire moors.Rochester is a rich but lonely person. He is not handsome ,even is urgly.Maybe it is not apparent, yet he has the sense of inferiority.Until he met Jane.Jane is so sensitive that he is definitely attracted.Jane said“ Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulle and heartle?Well, you think wrong!— I have as much soul as you — and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you.I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh: it is my spirit that addrees your spirit;just as if both had paed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal — as we are!”.That really shocked Rochester.Because of love,he lied to Jane in order to catch her.He has a legal wife.Yet he still planed to marry Jane.Maybe he is a little selfish. But he is just an average person.Rochester loves Jane.In the end, they married.Although he is not rich any more. The world is invisable to him.The love is pure. The story shows we that human value is equal to dignity plus love.
