Before I read the book, Wuthering Heights, I was wondering what the story of the book is on earth.For many years I have heard of the book, I haven’t read it yet, because I was not interested in the name and certainly I don’t want to go on to read it.But now, after reading the great story, I regretted very much that I didn’t read it early.It was a story happened between two great and grand houses, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcro Grange, in the late 1800s.It was far from city, noises, and narrowne, and full of the sound of the winds, amplitude, and monstrosity rocks of the windswept moors.The unique background filled the story with great heart quakes and desolate atmosphere.Heathcliff was a poor gipsy orphan who was deserted on a dirty street.The old kind Mr.Earnshaw took him back and brought him up.Mr.Earnshaw had a beautiful daughter, Catherine Earnshaw, and a son, Hindley.After Heathcliff’s coming to the family, Catherine became his good friend while Hindley always looked down upon the black-haired boy, treated him badly, and tried his best to make him a poor dull farm worker.Because of Heathcliff’s lowly status, he couldn’t offer a comfortable life to Catherine and at last she married Edgar.Linton, a rich young man living in Thrushcro Grange.“In my heart and soul I know I’m wrong!” said Catherine.She loved Heathcliff very much, but she also desired a comfortable life, and she chose the latter.Her life was not what she had expected.She was not happy at all, and sad at leaving Heathcliff for life.When she was near her death, she said like this, “I do want to escape from this prison.There’s a beautiful world waiting for me out there,” but she was still reluctant to leave the world.Only at this time did she realize that she had already no chance to love Heathcliff.In despair, she asked her true love, “Will you forget me, and be happy with others, when I’m in my grave?” How moving and regretful words!The way of love was not always smooth and full of happine, and there are various ends for a sensation in the world.No doubt this end was the saddest one.I can’t help thinking of a sentence of a famous poem, “For having lost but once your prime, you may forever tarry.” Not only go to marry, but also marry whom you love best!Heathcliff was very sad at her death, and hidden his
gentle and soft side, becoming a wild, crazy and cold man.He made up his mind to have his revenge on the people who destroyed all his life’s happine.In order to inherit Linton family’s wealth, he married Isabella, Mr.Linton’s sister, but in fact ,he didn’t love her at all.He did many bad things to hurt poor Isabella and scorned his own son, Linton.Heathcliff.The only reason he wanted his son to live was that Linton was to marry Cathy, Catherine’s daughter, to get Thrushcro Grange.He made Hindley degenerate by playing cards, and treated his son Hareton.Earnshaw in the way he was treated by Hindley.When he got everything that he wanted, he suddenly realized that what he had done couldn’t bring him any feeling of happine.No matter what he did, it was a world without Catherine forever.He could never live a happy life.He mied her very much, everything could make him remember her.But he had lost her.The only way to see her again was to die.Their love could prolong in another world, and they could be together forever, and no one can prevent them.The wind was still growling.He died wearing smile.He knew Catherine was waiting for him in that peaceful and beautiful world.Wish you a happy life and a kind heart in the heaven, Heathcliff.
