感谢您能够在百忙之中抽出时间来阅读我的自荐信。
我叫常晟源，是来自湖北省十堰市东风高级中学高三年级的一名学生。今年，我怀着向往与期盼，打算参加贵校的自主招生考试。我的家乡是个小城市，但我认为我具有足够的学识与能力，到这舞台上闯一闯。
我是我校最优秀的学生——没有之一。这并不代表我不谦虚，而是我用无数心血和努力换来的成果。先来说说学习方面。中考时，我以全省第十的成绩被我省最好的重点高中——华师一附中预录。为了减轻家庭负担，也由于我对自己充分的自信，我回到了十堰市。三年来我在本地区的排名一直保持在“领头羊”地位，我之所以能够取得这样的优异成绩，既要感谢学校老师对我的大力帮助和特别关注，也要感谢我的父母对我无微不至的关怀，更要感谢我自己——从进入高中开始，我就默默对自己说：要么不干，要干就把它干好。在这句话的激励下，我课上认真听讲，紧跟老师节奏；课下自主梳理，吸收消化总结；课后强化训练，及时沟通交流。直到现在，这独到的学习方法仍然被我视若珍宝。
至于学有余力，进行更高水平的学习，这也是我引以为自豪的。我对各门理科都具有着浓厚的兴趣，尤其是物理和化学两门科目。虽然我校乃至我市并没有专门的竞赛辅导机构和教师，但我凭一股热情自学了大学化学与大学物理中与竞赛相关的全部内容，并取得了两科国家二等奖（均为省级赛区，其中化学获两次国家二等奖，申请材料中有证书复印件）的全市最好成绩。
高中的学习生活，紧张而充实，在课业之余，我热心于参加我校举办的各类活动：运动会上，我虽然不能亲自上场竞技，但我也一样声嘶力竭地为我班同学加油鼓劲；元旦文艺汇演时，我作为场务负责人员，在三个半小时的表演中一直忙碌在场边，虽然离舞台只咫尺之遥，但最终也没能正面看上一眼表演；学校举办科技节，我带着我班同学担任义务讲解员，并加入学校通用技术小组，自己动手组装出了一台“简易清障机器人”，并焊接出一台收音机；学生会开展迎新活动，虽不是会员的我们也加入到志愿者的行列，帮着学弟学妹找宿舍，提行李„„三年的生活中，我并没让优异的成绩成为我融入集体的障碍，反而无时无刻不在为集体作出自己的贡献，以实际行动赢得同学们的尊重和友谊。
当然，“金无足赤，人无完人”，我也不可避免地有一些缺点，譬如遇事总爱思前想后，办事有些马虎大意等。但是，我有一个信条：缺点并不可怕，可怕的是没有去面对它们的态度和想要去克服它们的愿望。正如现在所写，我从不避讳自己的缺点，并欣慰于它们使我更加贴近同学；并且我也从不妥协，力争在一次次生活的磨练中打磨自己，使自己臻于完美。
就是这样的一个我，在去年暑假前往北京培训期间，来到了清华大学这所无数学子为之魂牵梦绕的高等学府。在短暂的停留中，我已然被她所散发出的青春活力和文化底蕴而折服。由此，我更坚定了来到清华大学就读的决心。
清华大学，这所百年名校，在当今经济蓬勃发展，引领世界潮流的中国，正焕发出新的活力。投身于这轰轰烈烈的时代大潮中，一直是我的心愿。我希望老师们能够给我这个机会、这个舞台，让我为清华大学的发展尽自己的一份绵薄之力，同时也能够借此完成自己人生价值的升华。此致 敬礼！

I feel greatly honored to be given the opportunity to submit this personal statement along with my application to your 2013 Mainland Undergraduate Students Recruitment Program.To begin with, let me addre a brief introduction to you honored teachers.My name is Sam Chang in English, and I’m 18 now.Born in a pretty small city in the centre of China, namely Hubei Province, I’m brought up with my family’s expectation that one day I will be able to leave and make my name in a larger city.Due to lack of money, together with lots of inconvenience, I chose to stay though I had been admitted to one of the best key high schools throughout our whole province.Having made up my mind to launch a battle towards all these obstacles that stood in my way to my dreams, I’ve been working hard in my academic work during the whole 3 years.As a consequence, I have acquired enough ability to think individually with a critical view, and to analyze the problem given in a more scientific way.Student as I am, I’m required to lay stre to my studies, and have done pretty well.Personally speaking, I’ve got no match in our school in learning.To learn better, I choose to be an active learner, which means following our teachers in cla and doing some preview before each leon.By this unique and effective way of learning, I have made various
academic progrees.In particular, I consider English as an eential skill to live in the current world, so I’ve spared no effort to practice my spoken English and writing skills.Though often students in Mainland are considered to be buried in homework and endle exercise work, I am the rival of this opinion.With high work efficiency, I’m able to take part in a series of afterschool activities so as to broaden my horizon as well as to equip myself with the eential ability to live in this society.For instance, I’m an enthusiastic figure when it comes to community services.Regularly we are required to serve every 6 months, and I’ve tried my best to make the most of each chance to do something helpful for those in need, including joining the clean-up campaign, visiting the Old man’s house,and help teaching at local elementary schools,etc.To make my senior life more content, I seize on every opportunity to take part in the school activities, such as the New Year Art Festival, school sports meetings, school science and technology festival displays.During the events above, I’ve challenged myself in abilities like leadership, organization, cooperation, patience, creativity, physical and mental health, etc.That’s part of the reason why I do have faith in myself to apply for your distinguished university.Ever since junior high school, I’ve been longing to apply for an complex university with internationalized conception of teaching.Your
