At the beginning of my eay,I’d like to give my gratitude to my English teacher.With the help of her,my listening skill has improved a lot after this semester’s learning.However,knowledge is infinite and there are still a lot for me to learn.Here are some leons I have drew from past.Firstly,not only should I improve my short memory but also find good methods of listening.In the past, I knew the importance of dictation but it was a hard part for me ,and I supposed that trying best to write down all the words correctly and completely I had listened at once was a good way.But in fact , I could not make it in this way because my pen can’t catch up with the speaking speed of the people.Now I find that what I’ve down was stupid.I just need to write down some key words to help me remember what the people say in record.So I really need to improve my short memory.Besides this, owning good listening skills needs not only a long time of practice, but also some good methods.It is hard and no need to write all words as identical as the original text.For dictation, we just need to give the similar words which have the same ideas as the original text.Secondly, it’s neceary to scan the options before listening them.Maybe you can predict what the speaker will say and infer the questions.Actually,I used to think that it’s stupid to do this.But gradually I realize that reading the options in ahead is eential for listening comprehension.What’s more,knowing some information in advance may be very helpful for understanding the listening and reacting quickly to the exercises.Thirdly,we should concentrate on the listening and never be absent-minded.I believe that most of us have such experience that we even don’t know what has been said although the paage is ended.So how did it happen? I always thought that it would be useful to concentrate only on the key words of the questions when I did long paages.But I always waited the key words and mied some useful information because I distracted during the long conversations.It can not be denied that key words are eential, but it is not advisable to wait for their appearance.We must concentrate on it from the beginning to the end and try to understand the meaning of the whole paage.Fourthly,besides these skills,we should not ignore the importance of memorizing vocabularies and know more about background knowledge such as history,science and so on.On the one hand,vocabulary is the basic of paage and expanding our vocabulary help us understand the paage;on the other hand, if you know the background knowledge well, you may prepare well before listening and find it easier to understand what the speakers say and answer the questions.Sometimes we can even conclude the right answers from our logical judgments, using the knowledge we know before we start listening.Lastly and also the most importantly,after we master what I have mentioned above,we should put them into practice.It’s just like the old saying:everything must be only down then been understood profoundly.The more frequently we practice,the more progre we will make.In the coming semester,I will practice my listening skill according to the above methods.I belive that I will learn it well.
