2007年，联合国大会宣布每年2月20日庆祝世界社会公正日，并请所有会员国利用这一特殊日子，根据社会发展问题世界首脑会议和大会第二十四届特别会议的目标，推动在国家一级开展具体活动。国际社会需要进一步加紧努力，以消除贫穷，让所有人都有充分就业和体面工作，实现男女平等，享有社会福利和社会公正。
