Should Olympics be commercialized?
In the past hundred years, the Olympics Games experienced the First World War, the Second World War, Cold War, terrorism interference, economic deterrence, sociocultural compatibility and such barriers.Olympics not only did not languish from those influence ,instead of having made the great development for which has almost become the world's largest comprehensive sports event today.But there is a problem which has always been existing, that is the commercialization of the Olympic Games.Although Olympic commercialization brought remarkable achievement for the Olympic Games and made the Olympic reach unprecedented prosperity.But with time went by, people also realized commercialization can cause some serious negative effects.So we need to re-examine the advantages and disadvantages of commercialization in today's background.In the modern Olympic history, first Olympic Games held in Athens.But in 1893, Greek economy walked to the edge of the basket-case state budget.Fortunately, with the persuasion of the modern Olympic Games sponsor Pierre DE Coubertin, the help of the Greek national funding fundraising and merchant’s loans and grant, the first modern Olympic Games went smoothly.After that, people realized that it is improperto support the Olympics by the independent fundraising of the host country.Then more organizers started to seek more support mode.And there were constantly appeared several new fundraising ways such as stamps, tickets, mementoes etc.Meanwhile, with the development of science and technology, there had appeared various commercial activities, such as the photography right and the pitch in advertising.Until the 23rd Los Angeles Olympic Games, just had breakthroughs.The 23rd Olympic Committee used a completely different operation modes, making the Los Angeles Olympics in economic terms has been a huge succe and also provided a kind of brand-new operation mode for future Olympic host cities.However, as time went on, some negative influences which were brought from commercialization revealed gradually.The first and also the most serious one: Commercial bribery.International Olympic committee mechanism has a closed corruptive hotbed, lacking of democratic supervision.These corruptions defiled the lofty Olympic spirit.Secondly, the doping is a byproduct of the commercial stimulation while it is in cancer of the Olympics.From competitive principle look, doping fundamentally destroyed fair competitive mechanism, leading to the athletes’ rooms, national mistrust and between conflicts.But in these abuses in, we also see some other things.If we want to let the spirit of the Olympics have been pa all the time, we must let it commercialize.Because compared with its benefits, the damage of the Olympic spirit caused by commercialization is really small.And its shortcoming place again can control in a suitable scope.As doping monitoring intensified efforts ,abuse of doping momentum has been curbed.These fully proof that the Olympic commercial outweigh the costs.We believe that with the maturity of commercial mechanism Olympics, all kinds of problems appeared in the proce of commercialization will be solved properly.Olympic will spread the true Olympic spirits to the world, let people all of
the world participate in this human event to make the world a better place.
