Run Through the Rain
雨中的奔跑
She had been shopping with her Mom in Wal-Mart. She must have been 6 years old，this beautiful brown haired，freckle-faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters，so much in a hurry to hit the Earth it has no time to flow down the spout.
她和妈妈刚从沃尔玛出来。这个小女孩一定已有6岁了，她有着一头漂亮的棕色头发，长着雀斑的脸上充满童真的表情。外面下着倾盆大雨。雨水溢满了檐糟，来不及排走，就迫不及待地涌向了大地。
We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Wal-Mart. We waited，some patiently，others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I get lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child come pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.
我们都站在沃尔玛门口的遮篷下。大家在等待，有的人很耐心，也有人很烦躁，因为老天在给他们本已忙碌的一天添乱。雨天总能引起我的遐思。我出神地听着、看着老天洗刷冲走这世界的污垢和尘埃，孩提时无忧无虑地在雨中奔跑玩水的记忆汹涌而至，暂时缓解了我这一天的焦虑。
Her voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in，“Mom, lets run through the rain,”she said.
小女孩甜美的声音打破了这沉寂的.气氛，“妈妈，我们在雨里跑吧。”她说。
”What?”Mom asked.
“什么，”母亲问。
“Lets run through the rain !”She repeated.
“我们在雨里跑吧。”她重复道。
”No, honey, well wait until it slows down a bit,”Mom replied.
“不，亲爱的，我们等雨小一点再走。”母亲回答说。
This young child waited about another minute and repeated, “Mom, lets run through the rain.”
过了一会小女孩又说:“妈妈，我们跑出去吧。”
“Well get soaked if we do,”Mom said.
“这样的话我们会湿透的。”母亲说。
“No，we wont，Mom. Thats not what you said this morning,”the young girl said as she tugged at her Moms arm.
“不会的，妈妈。你今天早上不是这样说的。”小女孩一边说一边拽拽母亲的手。
”This morning，When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?”
“今天早上?我什么时候说过我们不会被淋湿啊?”
“Dont you remember?When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said,‘If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!’”
“你不记得了吗?你和爸爸谈他的癌症时，你不是说‘如果上帝让我们闯过这一关，那我们就没有什么过不去了。”’(编注:英文里through一词表示“躲过，通过”的意思。母亲讲可以避开一切，在小女孩看来自然也应该包括能避开雨，不被淋湿了。)
The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldnt hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.
人群一片寂静。我发誓，除了雨声，什么都听不到。我们都静静地站着。接下来的几分钟没有一个人走动。母亲停了一下，在想着应该说些什么。
Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly.Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young childs life. Time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith. ”Honey, you are absolutely right. Lets run through the rain. If we get wet, well maybe we just needed washing,”Mom said. Then off they ran.
有人也许会对此一笑了之，或者责备孩子的不懂事。有人甚至不把她的话放在心上。但这却是一个小孩子一生中需要被肯定的时候。若受到鼓舞，此时孩子单纯的信任就会发展成为坚定的信念。“亲爱的，你说得对，我们跑过去吧。如果淋湿了，那也许是因为我们的确需要冲洗一下了。”母亲说完后，母女俩就冲向雨中。
We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked. But they were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars.And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing. Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions，they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories. So, dont forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories every day !

The thermometer had dropped to 18 degrees below zero,but still chose to sleep in the porch as usual. In the evening, the most familiar sight to me would be stars in the sky. Though they were a mere sprinkle of twinkling dots，yet I had become so accustomed to them that their occasional absence would bring me loneliness and ennui.
寒暑表降到冰点下18度的时候，我们也是在廊下睡觉。每夜最熟识的就是天上的星辰了。也不过是点点闪烁的光明，而相看惯了，偶然不见，也有些想望与无聊。
It had been snowing all night, not a single scar in sight. My roommate and I，each wrapped in a quilt, were seated far apart in a different corner of the porch, facing each other and chatting away.
连夜雨雪，一点星光都看不见。荷和我拥衾对坐，在廊子的两角，遥遥谈话。
She exclaimed pointing to something afar, “Look, Venus in rising!”I looked up and saw nothing but a lamp round the bend in a mountain path. I beamed and said pointing to a tiny lamplight on the opposite mountain, ”Its Jupiter over there!”

More and more lights came into sighs as we kept pointing here and there. Lights from hurricane lamps flickering about in the pine forest created the scene of a star-studded sky. With the distinction between sky and forest obscured by snowflakes, the numerous lamp-lights now easily passed for as many stars.

Completely lost in a make-believe world，I seemed to see all the lamplights drifting from the ground. With the illusory stars hanging still overhead, I was spared the effort of tracing their positions when l woke up from my dreams in the dead of night.
一念至诚的将假作真，灯光似乎都从地上飘起。这幻成的星光，都不移动，不必半夜梦醒时，再去追寻他们的位置。
Thus I found consolation even on a lonely snowy night!

Kiss of Reality
To talk of illusions, aret they great? illusion or day dreaming help us to think of what we want to become in life. We literally see how life revolves us in that position . Its an entirely different world of pleasure, comfort and imagination. Most of our day dreaming or illusions make us more and more egocentric. The word ego means self . Hence by dreaming and visualization we become self-centered. We never realize that things we dream of can be achieved by us by programming ourselves to work for it . But somehow the pleasure of dreaming ourselves as someone important takes us away from the realistic approach to achieve that level of self-satisfaction and self-accomplishment.
幻想对于我们来说不美妙吗？在我们一生中，是幻想，或者是说，是白日梦，让我们去思考成为什么样的人。我们认真的观察我们的生命是循着怎样的一条轨道。那时严格完全不同的世界，它充满了愉悦＼轻松和创意。我们的大多数幻想和白日梦会使得我们越来越以自我为中心。＂ＥＧＯ＂这个词的意思是自我。由于幻想，我们变得以自我为中心。我们从未有意识到，我们所梦想的事情是可以通过我们周详的计划去实现的。但不知何故，幻想成为某个著名人物的愉悦，却使我们远离了能够与满意和成就真实接触的机会。
This leads to an increase in the frustration levels of our mind . Why frustrations? This is because what we are, and what we dream of are totally different . We raise ourselves to a very high pedestal and we see that we are not able to live up to our expectations. And when this happens, we become mentally restless.

The vital solution that will dissolve all our problems is to make up our minds to get realistic . This approach will make us come in terms with reality. And there is no better road to self-improvement rather than the path of reality. When you gauge yourself , you subconsciously make two columns in your mind. One consists of the things that you are good at ,and the other consists of the ares where you can improve. And believe it will boost us to work on our weak areas and strengthen them. Fortifying your weak areas will harness your conscience and improve you convert would be to must be. And when someting must happen, it always happens. This new you will improve you for the better and increase your levels of self-esteem.It will change your outlook to things.
