2014高考英语阅读理解:2013暑假练习题(14)及答案解析

A

Today, there’s hardly an aspect of our life that isn’t being upended(颠覆)by the tons of information available on the hundreds of millions of sites crowding the Internet, not to mention its ability to keep us in constant touch with each other via electronic mail.“If the automobile and aerospace technology had exploded at the same pace as computer and information technology,” says Microsoft, “a new car would cost about $ 2 and go 600 miles on a small quantity of gas.And you could buy a Boeing 747 for the cost of a pizza.”

Probably the biggest payoff, however, is the billions of dollars the Internet is saving companies in producing goods and serving for the needs of their customers.Nothing like it has been seen since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, when power-driven machines began producing more in a day than men could turn out in nearly a year.“We view the growth of the Internet and e-commerce as a global trend,” says Merrill Lynch, “along the lines of printing pre, the telephone, the computer, and electricity.”

You would be hard preed to name something that isn’t available on the Internet.Consider: books, health care, movie tickets, construction materials, baby clothes, stocks, cattle feed, music, electronics, antiques, tools, real estate, toys, autographs of famous people, wine and airline tickets. And even after you’ve moved on to your final resting place, there’s no reason those you love can’t keep in touch.A company called FinalThoughts.com offers a place for you to store “afterlife e-mails” you can send to Heaven with the help of a “guardian angel”.Kids today are so computer literate that it in fact ensures the United States will remain the unchallenged leader in cyberspace for the foreseeable(能预测的)future.Nearly all children in families with incomes of more than $75,000 a year have home computers, according to a study by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.Youngsters from ages 2 to 17 at all income levels have computers, with 52% of those connected to the Internet. Most kids use computers to play games(some for 30 hours or more a week), and many teenage girls think nothing of rushing home from school to have e-mail chats with friends they have just left. What’s clear is that, whether we like it or not, the Internet is an ever growing part of our lives and there is no turning back.“The Internet is just 20% invented,” says cyber pioneer Jake Winebaum.“The last 80% is happening now.”

51.What can we learn from the Microsoft’s remark?

A.Today’s cars and airplanes are extremely overpriced.B.Information technology is developing at an amazing speed.C.Information technology has reached the point where improvement is difficult.D.There’s more competition in information technology industry than in car industry.52.The author gives the example of FinalThoughts.com to make the point that____.A.there are some genius ideas on the Internet

B.almost anything is available on the Internet

C.people can find good bargains on the Internet

D.some websites provide novel services to increase hits

53.What can we learn from the fourth paragraph?

A.There is a link between income and computer ownership.B.Many American children don’t put computers to good use.C.Studies show that boys are more computer literate than girls.D.The U.S.will stay ahead in the information technology in years.54.Which sentence has the phrase that poees the same meaning as the one underlined in the fifth paragraph?A.Some can tell you that he has changed their lives, while others think nothing of him.B.Think nothing of it.It was my pleasure.C.He thinks nothing of staying up all night in the Café bar.D.He thinks nothing of the pain in his back for the moment.55.What is the meage the author intends to convey?

A.The Internet is going to get firm hold of our lives some day.B.The Internet is going to influence our lives even more greatly.C.We should have a positive attitude towards the changes the Internet brings.D.Children should be well prepared for the challenges in the information age.参考答案

While it is impoible to live completely free of stre,it is poible to prevent stre as well as reduce its effect when it can’t be avoided. The US Department of Health and Human Services offers the following suggestions for ways to deal with stre.

◆Try physical activity

When you are nervous, angry or upset, try releasing the preure through exercise or physical activity.Running, walking, playing tennis, and working in your garden are just some of the activities you might try.

◆Take care of yourself

You should make every effort to eat well and get enough rest.If you easily get angry and can’t sleep well enough,or if you’re not eating properly,it will be more likely that you will fall into streful situations. If stre repeatedly keeps you from sleeping, you should consult a doctor.

Stre can result from disorganization and a feeling that “there’s so much to do,and not enough time”.Trying to take care of everything at once can be too much for you and as a result, you may not achieve anything.Instead, make a list of everything you have to do,then do one thing at a time, checking off each task as it is completed.Set out to do the most important task first.

It was a winter morning, just a couple of weeks before Christmas 2005. While most people were warming up their cars, Trevor, my husband, had to get up early to ride his bike four kilometers away from home to work. On arrival, he parked his bike outside the back door as he usually does. After putting in 10 hours of labor, he returned to find his bike gone.

The bike, a black Kona 18 speed, was our only transport. Trevor used it to get to work, putting in 60-hour a week to support his young family. And the bike was also used to get groceries, saving us from having to walk long distances from where we live.

I was so sad that someone would steal our bike that I wrote to the newspaper and told them our story. Shortly after that, several people in our area offered to help. One wonderful stranger even bought a bike, then called my husband to pick it up. Once again my husband had a way to get to and from his job. It really is an honor that a complete stranger would go out of their way for someone they have never met before.

People say that a smile can be paed from one person to another, but acts of kindne from strangers are even more so. This experience has had a spreading effect in our lives because it strengthened our faith in humanity as a whole. And it has influenced us to be more mindful of ways we, too, can share with others. No matter how big or how small, an act of kindne shows that someone cares. And the results can be everlasting.

A. From a stranger.

B. From a newspaper.

45.What do the couple learn from their experience?

B. One should take care of their bike.

C. News reports make people famous.

D. An act of kindne can mean a lot.

B

Green-space facilities are contributing to an important extent to the quality of the urban environment.Fortunately it is no longer neceary that every lecture or every book about this subject has to start with the proof of this idea.At present it is generally accepted, although more as a self-evident statement than on the base of a closely-reasoned scientific proof. The recognition of the importance of green-spaces in the urban environment is a first step on the right way;this does not mean, however, that enough details are known about the functions of green spaces in towns and about the way in which the inhabitants are using these spaces.

The theoretical separation of living, working, traffic and recreation which for many years has been used in town-and-country planning, has in my opinion resulted in disproportionate(不成比例的)attention for forms of recreation far from home, whereas there was relatively little attention for improvement of recreative poibilities in the direct neighborhood of the home.We have come to the conclusion that this is not right, because an important part of the time which we do not pa in sleeping or working, is used for activities at and around home.So it is obvious that recreation in the open air has to begin at the street door of the house. The urban environment has to offer as many recreation activities as poible, and the design of these has to be such that more obligatory(强制性的)activities can also have a recreative aspect.

The very best standard of living is nothing if it is not poible to take a pleasant walk in the district, if the children cannot be allowed to play in the streets, because the risks of traffic are too great, if during shopping you can nowhere find a spot of enjoying for a moment the nice weather, in short, if you only feel yourself at home after the street door of your house is closed after you.

46.According to the author, the importance of green spaces in the urban environment _______.

A.is still unknown

B.is being closely studied

C.is usually neglected

D.has been fully recognized

47.The theoretical separation of living, working, traffic and recreation has led to _______.

A.the disproportion of recreation facilities in the neighborhood

B.all of the recreation facilities far from home

C.relatively little attention for recreative poibilities

D.the improvement of recreative poibilities in the neighborhood

48.The author suggests that the recreative poibilities of green spaces should be provided

_______.

A.in special areas

B.in the suburbs

C.in the neighbourhood of the house

D.in gardens and parks

49.The author says “more obligatory activities can also have a recreative aspect” to _______.

A.suggest that obligatory activities don’t need to serious

B.show that recreation activities are very important

C.show how recreation activities have spread wildly

D.suggest how to offer recreation activities around home

50.Why would someone only feel himself at home according to the last paragraph?
