wait for sb./ sth.意思为“等候某人/某物”。例如:
I’ll wait for you forever.We’ve been waiting for the bus for half an hour.wait for sb./ sth.to do意思为“等着某人做某事或某事发生”。例如:
You must wait for permiion to enter.I can’t wait for this week to end.【知识拓展】
wait for 与expect的区别:wait 重在动作上的“等”,可接具体的时间,意思偏重于“专门在等”,很少可能做别的事。例如:
He said he would be waiting for me at 8:00 at the school gate tomorrow morning.expect重在心理上的“盼”,在这个动作发生时还很有可能在做别的事, 倾向于“边做边盼”。例如:
These days I’m expecting a letter from my father.另外在短语wait on中,1)on 为副词时意思为“继续等待”；2)on为介词时意思为“侍候/招待某人”。例如:
